How it works

01

What the scan measures

The scan looks at one initiative and asks four questions. Fit: does the way IT, OT and Operations cooperate match the complexity of this initiative? Flow: is the chain from the person with the problem to the adopted solution intact, owned and fast? Foundation: can the data and technology carry the solution to scale without a rebuild? Fuel: is there enough energy, rational and emotional, from the top to the floor?

02

Where it comes from

The seven cooperation patterns and the three complexity dimensions come from The IT/OT Handbook by David Ariens and Willem Van Lammeren (IT Revolution, 2026) and are used with attribution. The value stream view of digital delivery comes from Genabyte. The energy view follows the Six Batteries of Change (De Prins, Letens and Verweire). The level-descriptor format is inspired by the Factory of the Future assessment.

03

The three scans

Quick Scan: 15 minutes, one person, an honest verdict and first moves. Team Scan: four to twelve people across leadership, IT, OT and Operations, adding where the groups disagree and where the chain breaks. Guided Assessment: Genabyte verifies the answers against evidence and turns the result into a roadmap.

04

How the score works

Six dimensions, each scored 0 to 100. The index is not an average: it is a weighted geometric mean blended with the weakest dimension, so one broken link pulls the whole score down, exactly as it does in practice. A gap between the cooperation pattern the initiative needs and the one you run reduces the index further. The result is a band from Not ready to Scaling-ready.

An example. A predictive quality initiative on one moulding line, at one site, of high complexity. Its six dimension scores are 69, 50, 38, 31, 63 and 56. The ordinary average would be 51, which reads as Ready with conditions. The weighted geometric mean is 49.2; blended with the weakest dimension (31) it gives 43.8. The initiative needs a cross-functional project team or a product team, and the organisation runs Facilitation: two levels short, so the index is multiplied by 0.70. The readiness index is 30.7: Not ready. The first move is to form the cross-functional team, then map the value stream.

What the report contains

The report contains the verdict, a profile radar, the fit view, the chain-break map, the six batteries, the disagreements between groups (Team Scan), the first move and up to four further actions, and a note on how to read it.

06

What the scan does not do

The scan does not show a probability until it has been calibrated on real outcomes; it says so on every report. It does not certify anything. It does not compare you to other companies until the benchmark pool is large enough to be meaningful.

We store your contact details, your answers and, if you give them, your evidence examples, to deliver the report. In a Team Scan, individual answers are never shown to anyone in your organisation; the report shows group averages only. You can ask for deletion at any time.
